Scott Rothermel...what did they do to the bike at the 500 mi. mark? And how does it feel not having to stay under 6000rpm? I wanna hear the engine wail!

Here is my 500 mi service report.

Parts Replaced: -Oil Filter -Oil -Drain Plug Gasket -Wellnut, Airbox: Precautionary, if faulty will be sucked into airbox

I did not see any valve adjustment related parts, so I'm assuming valves were to spec. I am now allowed up to 8000rpm. I went up to 8000 and asked a following car if they heard it, they said no.

As a bonus, they did a dyno run on my bike. Hmmm, 13500 rpm before break in was finished? Well peak hp = 117.2 at rear wheel; and 12,800 - 13,300 rpm range.

Well, seeing as I don't have an owners manual and they don't have a shop manual..... I changed the oil and fluids (an MF by the way as no readly availible filter wrench fits) and checked to make sure nothing was loose and everything seemed to be adjusted properly. I did get a warranty/service schedule and the only thing that really calls for beyond that is a throttle body sycn. Since it runs fine I didn't bother. Yes the breakin schedule is a bitch. I'm not much ahead of you but it does sound good up around 8-9K which is as far as I've revved mine.

The engine does wail, or as I say It howls! I got on mine hard as I went by my fellow club members standing out front of the tavern where we hold our monthly meetings ( The Euro Motor Union of Greater St.Louis in St.Louis,Mo. USA).You gotta love it! It sounds very similar to the Ferrari I once rented while on vacation on Maui.

Russ, your right. At idle its nothing but when your on it the F4 sounds exactly like a new Ferrari 360.
