Power Surge Sparks Fire

June 2, 2000

A power surge caused north side lights to flicker, relays to momentarily trip, and a small fire in an A-E-P power station on Harlem Road yesterday afternoon. The fire was quickly put out by firefighters who were called to the scene. The surge happened when A-E-P employees switched current from one source to another. No one was hurt. There were no extended power outages. COLUMBUS
