GRANGEMOUTH'S refinery and
petrochemical complex ground to a standstill
last night after a failure in its power station led
to a controlled shut-down of its main plants.

The refinery, petrochemical, and oil and gas
processing plants were closed shortly after
6pm.

BP Grangemouth said a loss in electrical
power had triggered the shut-down, the third
major incident of its kind at the plant in a year.
