Neo Drift Out: a new scoring system

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

The scoring system for this (and other games, i.e. 1000 miles rally) is 1 point for each stage cleared: since in this one it's shown the best 6 times, why not use a F1 scoryng system, that is 10 points for 1st place, 6 for the second, 4 for the 3rd and so on? In fact you can clear a stage even placing last in the classification. What do you think about that (if you've understood my bad english :)?

It's probably be best to use the times themselves for racing games--somebody made a suggestion to this extent under one of their scores for gtmr (I forget who), although I think it may have been a little overly complex. This would be skito's domain to figure out.

Oh, and your English sounds fine to me, Vaz.

This sounds good provided it isn't "easy" to be first. so that everyone doesn't get 60. i think if we had specific games that could be ordered reversely by score, that would solve a lot of racing issues.

i will checkout the recordings to see the places the uploaders are getting for the stages, if they vary then i think this is an excellent temporary solution.

sheesh, vaz's english is better than mine!

Well, another proposal for Neodriftout and this probably doesn't permit a tie. Multiply the last stage played for 100000 then from it subtract the total time.

example: level 6 with 7m45s.45 = 6 * 100000 - ((((7*60)+45)*100)+45) = 600000 - 46545 = 553455

I think that this scoring system could be applied also to gtmr and gtmre (but I haven' t played it).

here's what's happnin' we now have a better (heh) scoring system. compute the time M:SS:TT =(which will be) 10 minutes minus the total time of the stages completed. Then your score will be the number of stages completed (not including the practice) times 100,000 plus MS,STT.

so if someone completes stage 3 with a total time of 3:34:14 from all stages (including the practice). 10:00:00 - 3:34:14 = 6:25:86, then their score is 300,000 + 62,586 = 362,586.

There is a minor problem with this in that it ignores your final incompeted stage score. There is no problem if you compelte all stages, but there is no easy way to add in the fitness of the final stage because it's a measure of distance you traveled in the last stage not a measure of speed you did it in.... So we're put more weight on completeing a stage.

Skito strikes back ! After aof3 , he found a very smart system scoring for neodrift ... as a mathematician I have to applause your great work : this system scoring sounds very fine to me
