I would much appreciate members' comments on the Arca Swiss Orbix tilts. Thanks a lot.

Yaakov:

I had a chance to play with Orbix at a dealer. It was certainly an interesting addition. I found the friction of the movement a bit too tight yet was also concerned about the reliability of the zero detent. I also wondered about dirt getting into the mechanism.

On the positive side, it is very compact (virtually invisible) and does provide non-base tilts, although only on the front standard. My feeling was that it was fine for the studio, but I wasn't persuaded that it was ideal for field work.

Yes, I have on a 4X5 metric. The movement is stiff, and I use it in the field, with some concern about grit in the mechanism. But so far, it works well, as advertised. The modest amount it offers is enough for my applications, being mostly a landsscape shooter.I recommend buying the camera with this feature.
