Small women and travelpacks

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Travelite.FAQ Packing Guide : One Thread

Hi all,

I really enjoy traveling lite, however since I'm small--4'9--my JanSport Weekender bag looks big on me. I realize I could go with a smaller bag but then there might not be room for all my essentials. Anyone have any suggestions?

I am 5'2" & have used the Jansport Weekender & have been comfortable with it as long as it is not overstuffed. I have a bad knee & have packed extra shoes & 2 collapsable walking sticks in it--things which I assume you could do without. The cinch strapes inside & out can compact it down quite a bit. I don't know if this helps you -- I realize you are smaller than I am.

Let us know what solutions you have come up with.

My wife (4' 11" and 90 lbs) uses the North Face Belize which is a real beauty, but not really cheap - maybe $150+. I've got a large Jansport that I use and we are both dedicated to Travelite. I like the Jansport because it's got a zip off day pack unlike my wife's Belize that's got a zipoff fannypack. No comparison on overall quality, though - the NF wins hands down. TerryD
