Handlebars

I have a 2000 cr250 and it is my first bike. I was told to put on aftermarket handlebars beacuse the stock bars are crappy. Should I install them on my own or should I have a shop put them on? I am learning something new everyday, but I do not want to screw up a important thing like the handlebars. Thanks, J

Bars are very very easy to install less then 30 mins. if you get Protapers its a little bit more involved. due to triple clamps and adapters. Welcome to the GREAT sport of motocross !

J, There is nothing wrong with your stock handlebars, until you crash. I would suggest that you keep your stock handlebars on your bike, until you bend them in a crash. When that happens, replace them with a quailty aftermarket handlebar with the same bend & height. The stock handlebars are very easy to bend because they are made of a mild steel. When your ready to change them, consider Renthals or Pro- Tapers by Answer Products. They by far, are the highest quailty handlebars available! As far as changing them, read your service/owners manual for step by step directions. You should of received it when you took delivery of your new bike, if not call your dealer & tell them you need a service manual.

Goog Luck! Mxkied
