Spammed---Not for the faint of heart.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TB2K spinoff uncensored : One Thread

Just for all the old regulars, there are only 2 people I have emailed directly from my own name. One is someone whom I trust, the other is who i 'TRUSTED'.

To date, I have received over 70 spams in my mailbox, to the one who knows who is doing it, I will give you one chance to KNOCK IT OFF, if you do not, I will COME on here And OUT you. Then, like you, I will change my account.

This is the REAl consumer and I personally have had enough. I trusted you, but you ARE indeed like everybody said you were, a LUNATIC.

I have now had to BLOCK all email and am most likely going to have to change my screen name.

You are one ignorant sob.

----thanks. BTW, I like the way you switch your email persona, very cute.

consumer, e-mail me please cinlooo@aol.com

-- cin (cin@cin.cin), May 18, 2000.

Consumer, I hope you don't think I'm the one who spammed your account. I swear to God, I didn't. I also swear to God that I'm not the one messing with the e-mail notifications.

I'm sorry it's happening to you, but I don't know what to do about it. I would help you change your e-mail address, but I dumped AOL and I don't remember from memory how to do it. You do know that you have 5 e-mail addresses with them, right? Furthermore, it really is a wise idea to get an internet based e-mail address in case you ever want to dump aol also. It's a pain to keep having to tell people when you change your address, and you don't have to do that if you have one at mail.com, or yahoo.com, or where ever. Also, you can use your serious address for family, co-workers, etc. and have play addresses for internet people.

It's just a suggestion, but I DO want you do know that I'm not e- mailing you.

Using this board to (DOGS FUCKED THE POPE! NO FAULT OF MINE!) get revenge on people you don't like is not only stupid and adolescent, but an (FUCK!!!!) abuse of resources as well. I agree with the (SHIT! FUCK! PFFFBBBT!)posters above, and echo the sentiment, "Get a life,"

-- Timmy Tourettes (timmy.tourettes@synd(SHIT)rome.com), May 18, 2000.

Consumer, if the spams are coming from the same address, or even the same domain, you can go to keyword MAILCONTROLS to block them individually without having to block everything. Of course, that's assuming you're really on AOL.

Timmy it is time for your medicashun!

-- (Dr. Psyche @ the .forum), May 18, 2000.

Hummm:

I have HAD to do that. It makes me very angry because I have family hubby is at home RIGHT not deleting my old screen name.

LL: I have NOTHING more to EVER in LIFE say to you except, FUNNY you should mention "yahoo"

And yes, it was AOL and YES she knew it.

-----still pissed @ guess where now witch

-- consumer (shh@aol.com), May 18, 2000.

I have HAD to do that. It makes me very angry because I have family hubby is at home RIGHT not deleting my old screen name.

I guess my point was that you can block the spams without having to delete your screen name. However, if it makes you more comfortable to delete the screen name, you can do that too.

I'm not sure what would motivate LL to spam you, especially since she's offering ways to prevent it on this thread, but if you have the email address of the person spamming you, it might be possible to get a better idea of who it is that's doing it.

-- (hmm@hmm.hmm), May 18, 2000.

consumer you must be drinking again so I'm not going to make you look more foolish than you already do.

Here, read this when you've sobered up and maybe you'll get a clue:

GADS ZOOKS!!! That particular function has bee one of Greenspun's hallmarks.

You can subscribe to either a weekly, or daily digest, or individual post notifications.

ANYONE can subscribe.

And, if you happen to know someone's e-mail address, want to trash their mail server, and are particularly loathsome you can subscribe them.

Diane has NOT subscribed for these, they have been subscribed TO her for the SPECIFIC purpose of trashing her mail server(s) and harrassing her, per the cyber-harasser, posted elsewhere.

If you posted on the Old TB2K forum, all of your posts went to a VERY LARGE number of people. As it is now, if you post there even though it's closed, I get a copy of the post since I am still on the list for digests.

Clearly, a number of folks might consider getting lives.

Chuck

(BTW Diane has NEVER posted here, and has no intention of doing so. She has, as have a number of us, decided that it's time to do something else with our lives.)

hmm, she's probably getting "spammed" because she puts her real e- mail address on posts that she starts. When ANYONE does this they receive responses in their e-mail box, either she's drunk, or she just doesn't understand and wants to blame me for her problem. Heh, why doesn't that surprise me. It seems there's a few losers who want to do that.

~*~

-- (Ladylogic@...), May 18, 2000.

(Sorry you are having this problem, consumer, and sorry to be getting off your topic here, but I just had to say...)

Distasteful as some people may find it, ya gotta give this "Timmy Tourette" guy an "A" for originality. I would admit to getting quite a chuckle outta his recent posts, but I'm afraid somebody would accuse me of being insensitive and/or making light of a serious medical condition. (This is not the case. I have a friend with this condition.) I do hope however, that Timmy manages to gain control over his condition (as my friend has through medications). If not, I fear that his posts will soon go the way of that incredibly annoying song "Mombo #5". Kinda cool the first few times you heard it, but really grated on the nerves shortly thereafter.

-- CD (costavike@hotmail.com), May 18, 2000.

hmm, she's probably getting "spammed" because she puts her real e- mail address on posts that she starts.

I must be missing something here. Are you saying that "shh@aol.com" is her real email address? She seemed to indicate that very few people are aware of her real address. Indeed, if that is her real email address, then hundreds of people on this forum are aware of it. If it's not, then I'm guessing that there is some other explanation.

-- (hmm@hmm.hmm), May 18, 2000.

Hey Ms. PI = Public Instigator...at LAST the truth is out, huh?

You have at NUMEROUS times, used fake names here to accuse me of 'drinking' NO, darlin, not today, I am at work...

You have an AOL account, that is how I emailed you privately, let me REFRESH YOU now, since I am not drinking. You, having gotten pissed, have CYBER STALKED me on AOL, you KNOW IT, and I know it. Then, you put together a CHAIN letter, with over 50 names on it and began forwarding it around.

Pissed off enough folks, got reported, so today, after I and 40 others reported you you began another chain of events....signing it at the bottom with (tell me regulars does THIS sound familiar) "I will remember all you guys."

Meanwhile, sending me little coded posts on threads Cold FusiOn ring a bell? SAME name on one of the spams I received.

You can fool some of the people some of the time, but babe, you just had your MAIL READ (pun intended)

Now, play the victim, you are REAL good at that. But sweetie the game is over. Looks to me like I am not the only one who sees the REAL you.

REAL cute touch, I need your email so I can mail your son a birthday card....you worthless witch.

-- consumer (shh@aol.com), May 18, 2000.

consumer, I never asked you for your e-mail address. I was going to post the birthday card here, remember??? Go back and look at the post when your head clears from the funk you're in.

Furthermore, the only e-mail I ever received from you was the recent one asking about Mr Polly, and I only e-mailed you the reply. YOU E- MAILED me. I never asked you to.

Otherwise, I'm tired of trying to help you understand what's going on. I could help you trace those e-mails, but all you're doing right now is making an ass out of yourself.

Like I said earlier, I'm sorry you're having a hard time, but you're blaming the wrong person here. Back off for awhile and maybe you'll finally get it through that fog you're in.

This is getting more interesting. And more confusing.

You, having gotten pissed, have CYBER STALKED me on AOL, you KNOW IT, and I know it.

Are you saying this person emailed you from AOL? Was it from Laura's known address at the time(LadyLogic46@aol.com)? It sounds like the stalking has been going on for a while. Did you think it was Laura all along?

Then, you put together a CHAIN letter, with over 50 names on it and began forwarding it around.

Again, was the chain letter from an AOL account? Not to make light of your situation, but if I had a dollar for every chain letter I received on my AOL account, I really WOULD have Made Money Fast.

Pissed off enough folks, got reported, so today, after I and 40 others reported you you began another chain of events....signing it at the bottom with (tell me regulars does THIS sound familiar) "I will remember all you guys."

Sure it sounds familiar. It sounds like something maybe a few million people would say.

Meanwhile, sending me little coded posts on threads Cold FusiOn ring a bell? SAME name on one of the spams I received.

What threads are you talking about? Are you referring to posts on this forum?

Clearly someone sent you a chain letter, you reported them, they got pissed off and spammed you. It's happened to me before and the people that do that stuff are jerks, plain and simple. However, I'm not sure how you're able to pin it down to Laura.

Dear Hmm:

Yes I have 'suspected' LL for awhile, just kept silent waiting to see what happened.

Using Aol, you can have more than one 'screen name'

RE: ColdfusiOn, yes, there was a thread here in which it read...

psst benjamin, coldfusiOn, which just so happened to come off the numerous spams I received.

At this point, I could care less whether anyone believes me or not. She has been using fake names all along, I seen the hostility build w/her accusing me everytime she felt the need to accuse me of being drunk, at which time now, at least she has the decency of using her own name.

Now she goes onto playing the victim. I tell you what, I know FOR SURE it is her. Believe what you choose, I am not the one with the reputation of being a spammer/and/or revenge seeker.

As for me, LL, you win, I am outtie. I do not like what I see you doing and soon enough you will get what you want. Sad part is I've met many folks on here I liked.

But, I'll move on and find another board, hopefully one w/out the cyber stalking WHORE.

-- consumer (shh@aol.com), May 18, 2000.

Yes I have 'suspected' LL for awhile, just kept silent waiting to see what happened.

Okay, fair enough. How has this person been stalking you? Via email or IM?

Using Aol, you can have more than one 'screen name'

Indeed, however this is only proof that someone on AOL is stalking you.

RE: ColdfusiOn, yes, there was a thread here in which it read...

psst benjamin, coldfusiOn, which just so happened to come off the numerous spams I received.

Interesting. Do you remember the thread? I'm not denying that it exists, just wondering what it was about.

At this point, I could care less whether anyone believes me or not. She has been using fake names all along, I seen the hostility build w/her accusing me everytime she felt the need to accuse me of being drunk, at which time now, at least she has the decency of using her own name.

I don't understand the references to being drunk. Do you think this was this a randomly chosen insult used against you or did it come up in conversation?

Now she goes onto playing the victim. I tell you what, I know FOR SURE it is her. Believe what you choose, I am not the one with the reputation of being a spammer/and/or revenge seeker.

I'm certainly not saying that you're lying, and her reputation is well-known. However, it still isn't clear what this person is seeking revenge over.

As for me, LL, you win, I am outtie. I do not like what I see you doing and soon enough you will get what you want. Sad part is I've met many folks on here I liked.

But, I'll move on and find another board, hopefully one w/out the cyber stalking WHORE.

And I'm afraid this statement makes no sense at all. How on earth would leaving the forum prevent you from being spammed, especially if the culprit already knows your email ID? If you've already set up another screen name, there should be no reason to fear another spam attack, and if you are attacked by Laura or any anonymous culprit on this forum, well, you already know how well those type of comments end up being received here.

If you want to believe that Laura is behind this, that's your choice, but I don't see any need to bail out of here because of it.

-- (hmm@hmm.hmm), May 18, 2000.

Believe it or not, I don't particularly want to see you go.

You THINK I'm guilty of causing your problems, but I'm not. I can't help but think your drinking is causing your current confusion, but I'm SURE it's going to cause you problems in the future.

Take care, anyway. I don't wish you any harm and I hope someday after you've thought about this (or learned how to track I.P.'s so that you'll KNOW I'm not responsible for your problem) you'll realize I didn't do that.

Adios.

~*~

-- (Ladylogic@...), May 18, 2000.

I'm confused as well, consumer. Then again, I don't use AOL. When I receive unwanted E-mail from one address, I simply set up a filter to delete the mail from my server. Is that not possible using AOL? I have from 30 to 50 filters set currently. They're not hard to set, and they're easy to remove. At one time I had a filter for ANYONE from hotmail. If AOL doesn't allow you to set filters such as this, I think you're better off going with another server.

Please don't leave the forum because of distaste for one poster.

-- Anita (Anita_S3@hotmail.com), May 18, 2000.

When I receive unwanted E-mail from one address, I simply set up a filter to delete the mail from my server. Is that not possible using AOL?

It is indeed possible. Keyword MAILCONTROLS will allow you to filter out email addresses or entire domains, including AOL screen names. It can also be set up the opposite way, allowing only certain email addresses and domains to send you email and blocking everything else. It's actually pretty well-done, considering that it's from AOL.

You can run away and never learn a damn thing if that's what you want. NONE of us can stop you. However, if you're going to continue using chatrooms you SHOULD learn how to use them without worrying about anyone "damaging" you. Listen to what we have ALL been telling you and make your decision after you've had a good night's sleep without drinking yourself into oblivion.

Furthermore, you don't have to worry about me talking to you anymore. Personally, I don't care for someone who goes around asking everyone to mud or sand wrestle, who says they don't want to know who posters are and then asks OTFR who Manny is, who's writing is so poor sometimes it's obvious you've gotten online when you're drunk. I don't CARE that you've gotten online drunk, mind you, I just think it's odd that you take offense to it when people point it out. However, I'm not going to hassle you, so you can come or go without intimidation from me (unless you speak to me directly, of course).

I can't help but think of all the times lately when someone would say " Oh give LL a chance, there's a reason she did what she did." Yeah, the reason is that she's a psycho.

I think there's a difference between "giving her a chance" and determining whether or not she is responsible for the spamming. So far, there's not a lot to go on. We know somebody spammed Consumer, and that someone is from AOL. At least, that's the impression I got.

You've obviously already decided that Laura is responsible. Consumer got spammed, Laura is a spammer, therefore Laura spammed Consumer. This is the sort of extrapolation that got people in trouble with Y2K, and we all know how THAT turned out. I'm not denying the possibility that Laura could have done this, but the facts so far are pretty scarce. Of course, for people such as our Multi-Troll friend who goes by handles such as "LL is Nutz!!," facts are merely an unnecessary luxury. LOL

Several others ok, perhaps, problem w/that is I only emailed LL@aol. she has/had an account there. I've emailed two people here whom I trusted.

And again, all we know so far is that the person who spammed you is on AOL. We don't have much information to tie that person with this forum.

LL is the the one behind it, there is MORE to this, I wont go into all of it, believe what you desire, I do not care. I have NOT came here, posted to simply stir shit. I have better things to do.

Obviously. But since you won't give us any more information about the situation, I fail to see what your point of posting this is.

I have recently written to Chuck, I shall see what he has to say, since he asked me to respond to him that we needed to talk. I'm sure being he was once a moderator, it ought to be intersting.

Indeed, it should be.

I can get along w/just about anybody, but what she did to me was not right. Then she rubbed it in my face.

Again, there isn't much to indicate that this is her "rubbing it in your face."

major eye roll, whatever. This will be my last post. You and I are against censorship, so I'll be outtie.

And AGAIN, this makes no sense at all. You're "outtie" because she supposedly spammed you? Do you think that will make her stop? Did you not already change your screen name to prevent this? If you had really enjoyed yourself here, then why don't you stay, regardless of what Laura is doing? Why on earth would you let her decide whether you should be here or not in any case?

Sorry, but your rationale is making no sense of any kind.

-- (hmm@hmm.hmm), May 19, 2000.

I don't know what else I can do but state it:

Consumer, I DID NOT e-mail you in the last two weeks. I have only e- mailed you ONCE in my entire life. I DO NOT have an AOL account. I got rid of them a week or two ago. OTFR can verify this by running and displaying my I.P. if she choses. The numbers are the same, but there is "ipt" or something like that ahead of it. (I'll post it myself tomorrow if she doesn't.) Compuserve is owned by AOL and if you sign up for both of them at the same time you get the same numbers but the first letters are different.

Furthermore, I wouldn't waste my time spamming a twit like you, Consumer. I think it's funny you think you're that important to me. I have limited time in my life like everyone else, and I'd rather spend it spamming Diane, or learning internet security.

To my troll(s), I'd love to stay here and continue discussing your "evaluations" of me, (because I truly am enjoying this :o) but I have meetings to go to today, so I'll see you all tomorrow.
