Pre-performance routines

Can you give me any information on pre-performance routines in any sport. I am very eager to find out more information about about them and to have a better understanding of the whole concept, if and how it works.

Tom Kubistant, in his book Mind Pump: The Psychology of Bodybuilding offers two interesting techniques. One is relaxation, which is obvious and the other is visualization. By putting a clear picture in your head of what you intend to do before you do it, you then only need to go through the steps to achieve your goal. This could be applied to any sport.
