Psycho-Nics Oscar, most of the scores should be banned!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

Firstly, thanx Chad for testing the inp's.....

It seems that most of the scores on Psycho-Nics Oscar and clones are only there because you can't die on the earlier versions of mame.

The only way you can die is by falling down a chasm, apart from that u are invincible....

Can we get the current scores removed ??????

The only scores that seem to work are the ones that me and QRS submitted with the latest version of mame.

This is a very difficuly game, I would love to see someone finish this without cheating...

Anyway, i'm off to work on it... ;-)

Thanx in advance.......

For the record , I didn`t cheat. In fact I wasn`t even aware of that scenario with earlier MAME versions. I used Win36 Beta 11 for both of my recordings, and both of which were confirmed by 'ceh' ( Chad, I think ). So I can`t see my recordings being removed , unless you`re referring to other scores maybe, GG ? Yes, it is s tough game. Wait until you try levels 7 + 8. They`re the pits. Maybe Lagavulin has something to say about this topic also, as he currently holds top score having completed the whole game.

Gotta get back to work...

the invulnerability only appears to be in mame36 FINAL versions including win36. i believe MOST versions before the final are ok, i haven't checked all the recorindgs but it appears that just the ones i played and saw recording on win36 or mame36 were always invulnerable.

Guess what ?

With all this talk of P/N Oscar, I has a game earlier using the latest MAME version I have ( i.e Win36 Final ). I recorded, and I was invincible ! So I guess Game Guru..et al are probably correct. But my INP using Win36 Beta 11 is legit. This obviously is a version that plays OK.

I agree, any recordings done on MAME 0.36 final (i.e. Lagavulin's) should be deleted. I don't want this to be a slam towards Lagavulin's skills, but it's pretty obvious that he doesn't know the game that well. I would think that someone who could finish the game on one credit wouldn't fall into that pit on Level 3...

again, this is not an insult because I'm not too familiar with the game either. But watching that recording, I didn't get the feeling I was watching someone that actually KNEW the game. Feel free to prove me wrong by uploading a recording on a version with proper collision detection...

What a clever detective you are, Sherlock BBH ... It was really hard to guess it was my first and only credit with that game. In case others didnt' realize, of course I was invincible and of course my inps should be deleted...

Lagavulin, who is nearly on summer vacation ...
