The only way you are going to have a satisfactory answer to that is to buy a pack and try it out yourself. Regards, Pat

Pat's right. It's hard to do any meaningful text description of paper tone and appearance. Call Freestyle and buy a small pack. I did that and was quite pleased with Seagull graded RC paper. Also, Freestyle was inexpensive and very prompt.

Hello Stavros!

Of course testing is the best way. I like G2/G3 for lith printing it works superb, also the VC emulsion. This really sets it apart from other mainstream fibre papers. It seems to have higher silver content.

Works also well as an "ordinary" paper. Simply try it.

In Germany it has become pretty expensive like 120 Euro for a box of 50 30.5*40.6.(12"*16")

Photo Techniques magazine had an article in their last issue (March-April 2000) on the new Seagull papers. It was a very thorough study by Phil Davis complete with contrast curves, etc. Among other things, Seagull G appeared to have better blacks than some papers and responded very well to selenium toning.

The Photo Techniques article was heavy on charts and graphs and light on any information that would tell you anything about what the paper might look like when you print on it.

I'm not sure what the point was.

I'm with the others who say the only way to find out is to print with it.

I tried a pack of the FB and the VC. Quite nice, Dmax is very similar to the other primo papers, Ilfoed MFFBIV, Agfa Multicontrast classic. All around a good paper but it is very cold even before selenium toning. If you like cold tones you should like it.
