Does anyone miss the chats that used to exist? Interested in starting another room?

Why start another room? As far as I can tell, Bok's chat site still exists..just no one using it anymore. Perhaps you should set up a date and time..like Chat every Monday and Thursday night at 9pm est?

Isn't this sad when everything in the nation is going againt our constition, our young people pay know attention to our freedoms. what will we do with out them, will they hear us or not. WEll God bless them anyway.

The only reason I haven't done chatrooms more is that my typing is very slow and because of that I sometimes had a hard time keeping up - - I had so much to say and couldn't get it typed in time; so, many times I ended up kinda frustrated. But, I gotta say...the music thread two nights ago was very close to a chatroom, because the reponses were coming so fast -- pretty cool.

I am practicing my typing, though; maybe someday y'all will get the chat thing back together, and I'll jump back in...

Is there a place where everyone hangs out and chats?

-- Debra (??@??.com), May 14, 2000.

Debra, they do ...or at least they did. Bok's and there was another one, but I don't think I have the addresses right now; maybe someone else can help. I'll look around, though. I remember the password for Bok's but I don't know if it's ok to reveal it on the board. I'm sure it would be ok to e-mail it to you, but apparently your e-mail isn't real.

sounds like a good idea. But lets cover global warming and the environment, but don't forget NWO, invasion of privacy, new communications monitoring devices. the truth is out there ???.

BEST WISHES

Boks Chat Room

The password is "newt", bok did post the password for all to see many times. It was meant to be for the forums use. You can use your name or remain anon.

Try it out, Monday at 9pm est...I will be there, okay..so you can at least talk to someone..!

-- kritter (kritter@adelphia.net), May 14, 2000.

I do remember the password being posted on the forum before; in fact, that's how I got it. But, since I've been out of it for a while (chatroom-wise), and haven't seen the password posted in the past few months or so, I wanted to be sensitive to a possible decision not to post it publicly anymore.

How do I find this Bok's Place? A URL would be helpful.

-- Lurker2 (lurking@a.lot), May 14, 2000.

Eve, I have the same problem. By the time I got a message typed, the conversation had jumped to something new. Realtime is nice but I appreciate the time to think about what I am saying before I post it. (no wisecracks anyone, please)

I loved Bok's chat room! 9est is too late for me (use computer at work). How 'bout some ppl showing up around 5pm est?

-- Not now, not like this (AgentSmith0110@aol.com), May 14, 2000.

Lurker..just click on the words "Boks chat room" in my post above this one..it IS a link to the site. But if you just want the url, it is http://homestead.deja.com/user.bok0non/index.html .

Just my personal opinion, but I don't miss chat. I've spent quite a bit of time in both rooms and enjoyed the experience, but there ARE problems, IMO.

1. There's no separation of topic. This means that the messages on various topics are interspersed and unless one takes the time to address a particular person on a particular topic, no one knows who or what you're addressing.

2. Everyone's too damn polite. This doesn't mean that I don't honor polite behavior, but AGAIN, a lot of time is wasted by someone new entering the room and 15 interspersed messages responding with "Hi, So-and-so." If someone leaves the room, everyone AGAIN feels compelled to say goodnight, etc. The goodbyes of the slow typists show up several minutes after the person has left the room.

3. If you come in at a time when all participants are involved in a heated topic of which you have absolutely NO interest, you're faced with either waiting for the topic to change, or trying to politely excuse yourself because um...um...the dinner's burning.

4. Some people DO type slower than others. In MY case, my fingers type MUCH faster than my brain THINKS. So...I ask, "What do you mean?", and 10 minutes later someone says, "I MEANT ......" Of course by THIS time, I've lost track of what I meant when I asked "What do you mean?"

5. While a room is empty save for a few of which you're familiar and you have something REALLY private to share, you can feel free to post just about ANY thought with the knowledge that the information won't be archived like on a BBS. However, I've seen folks who lurk and copy/paste this information and either address the shared thoughts or paste them to a BBS.

6. Chats can be VERY addictive.

As I said initially, I enjoyed chat very much. I wouldn't have grown to understand MANY people had I not engaged in chat. However, MY interest has waned.

Good Nite Nita!

Before you go....pull my finger?

-- Uncle Deedah (unkeed@yahoo.com), May 14, 2000.

Here's what I don't get about chats: Does the first person in just sit there and wait?

But I have certainly enjoyed newt in the past -- had some good laughs there.

I'll drop by if I'm online at 9. See you there.
