Where can I get CORID/

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

A few months ago on some forum, somone asked the same question, now I am having a problem finding it. CORID, (AMPROLIUM)used in the treatment of Coccidiosis in livestock, in my case beef cattle, it is mixed with drinking water and usually works fast on my stock. It is not available it seems, anywhere. I was able to get 4-4oz. bags the other day but out of 6 feed stores in my area, that was all there is and I have been told there will be no more until July. I am trying to get some information from Merck, who produce the drug. Has anyone had this problem?

Robert, I found some feed treatment on my first call. They don't carry the water treatment and aren't sure how the two treatment methods compare. Coccistop for prevention is 32.50/100# and the crumbles to treat are 47.50/100#. The man I spoke with suggested going to the vet if you want the water treatment. I can keep looking for the water treatment or could ship you some of this. Gerbil

Merck won't be in production until May and Corid won't be out on the shelves until June. Our goat club called Merck since we were getting so much differing information. We are substituting Sulfaquinoxoline (Opti Med 31.92%) from pipevet.com and its only dosed at 2 1/2 cc per 100 pounds, very economical to use. I had my goat meds stored for Y2K and have Corid for the year put away. I try to get all of my meds sent in the winter, so the vaccines aren't sitting in hot mail trucks, with melted icepacks! You should be able to purchase Corid liquid from the vet, which is actually the same drug, yet costs a fortune from the vet! Not a real fan of Albon, the most overused Sulfa on the market, really see very little help with cocci, though we are hearing of folks using it orally, (the IV Albon) with great results. Sure are hearing alot of folks complaining about Cocci this year, the reason why we use prevention always. Vicki

Try Jeffers Vet Supply. The Number is 1-800-jeffers. I have always had good luck with them reasonable prices.

Mark, Jeffers has been out since at least March, so is Hoeggers, Pipestone, Premier, Tractor Supply, Caprine Supply, Nasco, and every feed store in the country! I gest of course, surely someone has a supply at some feed store where folks don't use it, but it is all but impossible to find! Vicki

Robert- I havn't been able to find corid for a while either I've heard that they aren't making it any more. All I've been able to find is the liquid form witch costs close to one-hundred dollors for a gallon plus we have no use for that much (we raise goats).

I have no helpful suggestions, sorry, but a question....how come you have cocci? Is this a frequent problem in your herd?
