Quotably Quoted #5

This is why pollys are pollys. Polly's are afraid of having their bubble burst, because they have an investment in living a life of illusion. For whatever reason, denial etc., any reference to things changing to the extent that their fantasy will no longer exist is a definite threat. That is why Pro's and Shmoe's keep boring us with their nonsense that 'Y2k ain't gonna happen!', without any factual evidence to back them up. We are a threat to their fantasy lives. Reality is simply too painful for people like Doomerssuck and Y2K Pro. They are more afraid than they will ever admit, because their whole internal world will come crashing down (forget about their external world) if they are deprived of their fantasy life. DOWNtheROAD

Your constant harping about the inaccurate call by the doomers is growing thin. What is your point? Many of the people you depreciate were big enough to admit they made a mistake...

I still think that the pollies, for the most part, failed to give a convincing argument that y2k would not be a big deal. Your posts during the pre-rollover period were very condescending, intellectually arrogant, and not persuasive. If you wish to actually convince someone to your position, I would suggest that stating they are suffering from "meme" disorders isn't very helpful.

Gloat if you must, but for most of us, it's becoming very irrelevant. The main lesson from the y2k debate is how difficult it is to make a critical decision about a topic which is out one's normal expertise.

Sure M. Hopeful

Many of the Doomers who apologized had nothing to apologize for. They were simply sucked up into the vortex of fear propagated by Heller, North and Mr. CEO (giggle)

The ones that never apologized and should were the ones that wished death on those of us who were not believers. Folks like the mouthbreather below - fantasizing about my childrens death...

"As he crouched in the darkness, a slight breeze sent chills up his back. He had been successful, for the moment. Long and loud did the painful echos ring in his head. The screams of the final agony of his children's last breath. 'At least I'm alive...' he thought for but a moment. Gone were the days of the gloriously lit markets, filled to overflowing with food and consumables. He knew the hunters were close...Those who would hold him responsible...He attempted to rationalize his mistaken beliefs...'But they said nothing would happen!!!' he insanely muttered to himself, as he dragged himself over the ground. The sounds of the far off hounds increased. The dogs would not be denied. They had his spoor. Y2K Pro took one last look around, and quietly, quickly, scurried off into the darkness..."
