Put a copper penny in either one and it will disappear in about a month! Can you imagine what that crap does to your insides? I have never had either one and never will. My health means too much to me!!!

WOW @!!!,

That to me is wild, really, never? Your'e probably better off for it,but it's still not the norm.Hell,I think I went straight from the tit to the pepsi.Might ba a country thang? Just mt 2" : )

Both are absolutely ghastly. I suspect they're made from reconstituted vomit. Do you hold your nose before drinking? Otherwise, how do you get either one all the way to your mouth?

I want to know about the copper penny. I am going to test it out and report back in a month.

"a"- How did you possibly make it to your age without *ever* having at least tasted a coke or a pepsi?

-- CD (costavike@hotmail.com), May 09, 2000.

And, has anyone ever tried the copper penny experiment with apple or orange juice as a control. I'd bet they're a lot more corrosive that Coke or Pepsi.

Taco Bell Hot or Mild Sauce does the same thing to a penny. A lot of barbecue or spicy sauces will do the same thing. It is not unique to soft drinks.

-- CJS (cjs@aol.com), May 10, 2000.

why do people drink that stuff, I mostly like soft drinks that include no artificial ingredients (only juices, occasionally tonic) or home made lemonade (yes I know its acidic of course)

why don't you just stop drinking coke/pepsi its so revolting anyway

but I must hand it to the manufacturers I'm told no matter where you buy cola, it always tastes exactly the same

same goes for macdonalds etc

Can't say that Guinness tastes the same the world over.Seems a different thicker brew in Ireland to be sure.

As I mentioned in this thread, I used to like Coke better until they changed the formula in the mid-80's. After that fiasco, they supposedly re-released the "Classic" formula which tasted nothing like the original. Most people I know still drank it anyway and claimed it was the same. I suppose you could have put battery acid in there and slapped the "Classic" label on it and people would think it tasted the same. Oh well. After that disappointment, I became a Pepsi drinker.

However, for a truly wonderful cola experience, nothing beats a Jolt.

DAMN, what a coincidence...this morning our office got a fax that stated what coke could be used for, darn i threw it out, but one of the things said it would clean up rust off car....?????

Shhhhheeshh, sucking on icewater.

Guinness is not pasturized in Eire

(so I'm told by an Irish colleague)

In the fabulous fifties, you bought your Coke in a green bottle (frosted). Nothing put out by the Coca-cola company since then, or any other cola company, has ever come close.

-- Peter Errington (petere@ricochet.net), May 12, 2000.

And while I'm on the damn subject, people who missed the fabulous fifties will never know the joy of getting on the outside of a cherry coke at a soda fountain.

-- Peter Errington (petere@ricochet.net), May 12, 2000.

Peter,

I remember those frosted green coke bottles..my sister and I used to go looking for them so we could turn them in for the deposit. I think it was 2 cents a bottle in the early sixties. The guy that owned the variety store used to get pissed cause he knew that we didn't buy all those cokes there..LOL..He din't have any choice but to give us the money. Then we would buy penny candy...remember that?

I can honestly say that I never had a cherry coke...but I used to sit at the soda fountain at the local 5 and dime store(Woolworths) and drink rasberry lime rickeys...yum!

Worked in a golf shop for a while. The best thing to clean club heads? Coke; over-nite and there's no stains or anything on them.

I used to be a big cola drinker; now I just have it one day a week (Friday's) as a treat. Funny thing is I'm missing it less and less.

Walmart's Dr. Thunder is a pretty good sub. for Dr. Pepper. Plus the typical 59 cents price usually beats the crap off the name brands. I've never been able to 'wean' my better half off of Coke, I prefer the less sweet taste of Pepsi. Dr. T. seems a decent compromise.
