FTb Battery Questions

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon FD : One Thread

What are FTb users doing about replacement batteries? I know that silver battery converters are available. Does anyone have any experience putting silver batteries directly into the camera and adjusting the EI to get the right exposure? If so:

What adjustment are you using? I mainly shoot T-Max 100. Does anyone know the adjustment for that.

One thread on Deja News indicated that more than one Olympus user ruined the meter by usint 1.5v batteries. Is this a risk with the FTb?

Are there other pros or cons about silver batteries?

If silver batteries can not be used directly, where do you get converters for silver batteries?

Thank you for sharing your experiences with me.

The most common convertor is the one from CRIS. Do a web search and it should come up with them.

I would use a convertor rather than relying on offsetting the ASA. That way is fine, most of the time. Then you are on a once in a lifetime trip, run out of film and have to buy something, and have to remember to set the ASA correctly, with the offset...

You can also use Wein cells, and some people are using zinc air hering aid batteries directly. With the hearing aid batteries, watch the polarity, since they are opposite of wht you are used to seeing them look like.

BTW if you could burn up your meter with a silver cell directly, you could also burn it up with an alkaline cell.
