PVC casing

Can someone tell me if ASTM Standard D2412 PVC pipe is schedule 40,80 or what it stands for. Code 302.3h Installation below ground cylinder.thanks

Not certain, but feel that most likely, the ASTM standard is descriptive of the basic material "specs" of the pipe and is independent of the schedule number, which involves the bursting strength (resistance to internal pressure).In other words, ASTM D2412 may come in several schedule sizes. In general, PVC is used as a "condom" for corrosion protection in elevators and is not exposed to internal pressure, so the thickness (Schedule number) need only be what is necessary for mechanical strength as dictated by the application.Thus the Code specifies a stiffness, not a schedule number.
