Does Selenium toning affect the tone on Polymax Fiber Base Papers, or will enhance D-max only.

I guess that depends on the dilution of the toner, and the time you leave the print in it. Dilutions beyond 1+9 take some time to cause a shift in tones. So you have a couple of variables to control the effect according to your desires.

It was some years ago that I tried Polymax--when it first came out-- but my experience was that selenium toning definitely changed the print color to a more purple hue. I found the tonality very pleasing.

I use Polymax Fine Art FB FD and I selenium tone for 3-5 mins at 1:5. I like the deep blacks from this process. It isn't an eye popping change though and Kodak says there is no tone change with this paper but tone a print and place it next to an untoned print. Noticable change. James
