Who Wants to be a Millionaire Show

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Just thought I would let you guys know that I made it to the final forty but didn't make it to the final ten. Boo Hoo. It was fun this week though to think about the possibilities. When I called in for the final five questions, I am sure I got three of them right and 90% sure I got the fourth one right but I had to totally guess on the last one because I had only heard of one of the people in the answers. I guess it wasn't enough. I'll probably try again when the lines are available again. I'm not obsessed with it so I'll just try whenever I remember it. I still laugh at the comment that Gerbil made that I could go into farming full time until my million ran out. I think that sums up how a lot of us feel sometimes. Now, if the five questions had only been about homesteading. It was fun to dream though. Thanks for sharing in my excitement. I had a great week just anticipating the possibility.

After meeting you and seeing your place---I have to say you will be so much happier without the million bucks. I think you would have spent most of it on doctors and drugs to counteract the stress of having toooo much money !

Colleen, sometimes we buy Lotto tickets and have the most fun fantasizing about what we would do if we won! It's cheap entertainment for a buck...the good thing is we feel confident that we would be doing exactly the same things we are doing now: living on our land, participating in the same local groups, etc., just maybe doing the homesteading on a little more acreage...and possibly a little more remote. And maybe traveling more...but that's it. Money can't buy this much happiness, that's for sure! I was looking forward to seeing you on the show, though, so I would have a face to assoicate you with!! *sigh* Next time!!

Collen, thank you for shareing with us! That was as close as I will ever get! ha -It was a fun experience for you & the rest of us, also. In my Bible I have written ; "Don't shrink yourself into a millionaire if God told you to become a missionary!" God has other plans for you also, at this time-- I believe! Again thanks for shareing with us! Praise God, we don't have to have a million dollars to be happy & healthy! Sonda in Ks.

Sonda, I LIKE that little saying you have in your Bible!! I know some parents whose nearly-adult children want with all their hearts to serve the Lord, but the parents, out of misguided concern and a lack of faith in God, are pushing them to get an education that will lead to a "good job" and "financial security". The childrens' hearts are breaking, because they love their parents and have been taught to respect and obey -- and the parents are tearing them in two. The Bible says that we can't serve two masters, and that is so true, we cannot serve both money and God. And if we are serving God, He will take care of us!!

Sheepish,My husband and I do the same thing. We have strict guide lines about how high the lotto has to be before we buy a ticket and when we do, we avoid all the media until we are done dreaming so we won't hear if anyone won. The interesting thing about it is how tremendously our dreams have changed over the last twelve years. I guess that's growing up for you.

Sonda,I like the saying in your bible and plan to write in my list of inspirational phrases that I go to every few weeks. It is a great way to keep things in the proper perspective.

Colleen,I'm so sorry that you didn't win. We watch regularly as a family. It is great fun to hear the children answering questions!!! I keep telling my husband to try out, but he hasn't agreed so far. He gets every fastest finger question right....I never get any! I also tend to miss all the easy questions and get the obscure ones. It must be an indicator of something!? Say does anyone else read Countryside from the back to the front?!@#$

Jenifer, I always read "Country Side" from back to front--is that not the way we are suspose to read it? ha! Kathleen & Jenifer I have something else written in my Bible that I thought you might enjoy--"I pray I will always be flexible enough to walk where Jesus leads me, even when the path is not where I anticipated it would be." Excuse me everyone if I got off the subject title. Colleen let us know if you call the show again & get in the finals! I want to cheer you on! Sonda in Ks.
