Multiple prints per page

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I am trying to simply print multiple photos of different sizes on glossy A4 in one print run. I can cut & paste into Word, but would rather use a decent imaging program, but something simple, although not EZtouch which can't even read a file name with a space. I have PhotoDeluxe but I find it painful to use - simple Help about printing multiple shots? Forget it! I have a Fuji MX2700 and Epson Color 800, but the print management drives me round the bend! Should I stick to Word? Doesn't sound right for printing quality colour. Thanks.

Philip:

A very nice program, Arc Soft's Photo Printer, is availble for not much money, I think around $30 US. I have version 2.0, and it lets you print out multiple images on the same paper. You can print the same photo, or you can use different images on each page. There are a lot of choices as to size, portrait or landscape, etc. I believe there is a newer version out now, but 2.0 does everything I want. It is pretty user friendly, too.

I find Word to be very stiff to use for putting more than one graphic per page. WordPerfect is much easier for this purpose, and you can resize and move them very easily. With WordPerfect, text wrap is automatic, but with Word, one has to enable it every time you bring in an image. If you have access to WorPerfect 8, you may want to try it. Otherwise, I'd go buy Arc Soft's neat program, Photo Printer.

Go to the Qimage site and download a trial of that software. I like it as i can print several images on one sheet. I also like the fact that when you purchase the progran and they update it you can download the update FREE! Download it and play with it, I am sure you will like it. If you are using Office, you might try PowerPoint. It doesn't appear to print quite the same quality or color accuracy as a pure "photo" program though. I do use it on occasion just for quick multiprints on a plain sheet.

Another trick I use is to cut a sheet of 8 1/2" by 11" in half and then redefine the paper size in the printer. Does a nice job, allows me to use PhotoDeluxe for the print function, saves paper and , since I'm almost always printing 5" X 7" prints anyway, I end up with a high-end product.

Lastly, I have Arcsoft and it does allow you to more easily print mutiple photos on a single sheet but like Powerpoint, I don't think the final print is as good as from Photoshop or Photodeluxe.

without purchasing anything, photo delux supports layers. Size your images to the size you want. Paste each on a separate layer and move them around so they fit.

At Lee's suggestion I went on-line and downloaded a copy of Arc Soft's Photo Printer (which looks like it was designed for a little kid) but which works great AND the best part is the lite version is FREE.
