cattleya orchid

greenspun.com : LUSENET : About Hawaii : One Thread

I just purchase my first cattleya orchid with ten full bloom flowers on it I need to know how to take care of them. Can I have sit in a bucket with alittle bit of water? Do I remove the two dead flowers from there branch or do I wait for them to dry up completely? Where in the house can I put them and how much sunlight can I give them? Should I leave it outside? Can I pick the flowers off of them and can I transplant them while it is in bloom?

Sorry to say that Teri just draws them and waters them. For the specifics, you may want to take a look at for growing tips. If you're on Oahu, you may want to call Koolau Farmers or look in the Yellow Pages under Orchid Growers. Hope that helps.
