Does anyone remember those two retired IRS agents on the old forum? If ANYONE mentioned the IRS in the thread title, someone posted the same old cut'n'paste regarding those two. I got to the point where I wanted to scream "NO! Don't put IRS in the title!" because I KNEW the thread would contain that article, and it always did.
Remember when Andy put his cut'n'paste of the day on EVERY thread regardless of whether it applied to the topic at hand? Did anyone notice today the thread Z started where someone cut'n'pasted something totally irrelevant to the thread topic?
I call that spamming.

Nice try, Uncle, but I'm no bumpkin. What might appear to have been a legitimate demonstration of spamming was really a brazen attempt (highly successful, I might add) to move up the ladder of active posters.
Manny, by "about," did you mean "in the vicinity of." I don't know what drives a person to the degree of public self-flagellation your post exhibits, and I don't want to know, either.

I think there were several active 'bots turned loose on the old forum/Bok's Chatroom. For the Newbies, there are some robot ('bot) programs that either search for a specific word or phrase (much like a search engine does), or takes the last or second to last noun or verb in a sentence and throws it back at a participant in a chat room. Here's a possible example:
Real Person: Did you see Mulder on "X-Files" last night? He was such a turkey!"
Bot: I really like turkey sandiches.
Real Person: What does that have to do with the "X-Files"?
Bot: The "X-Files" is a good show.
Real Person: Do you ever visit the Fox "X-Files" website?
Bot: There are lots of websites about sex.
Real Person: I knew that you were a pervert! You must be a man!
Bot: Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country...

And so on. There seemed to be several of those types of conversations and posts. Remember the nutty one about contaminated chicken? That one was scream, until it appeared for the 40th time.
