Better not get used to that tax bill just yet.

Because of a computer error, about 6,000 taxpayers living within the West Skokie Drainage District can expect to receive a second, corrected property tax bill next week.

The error left out the portion of tax to be paid toward that district, which includes residents living in eastern portions of Libertyville, Green Oaks, Riverwoods, Lincolnshire, Deerfield and Bannockburn.

Lake County Treasurer Robert Skidmore said his office will mail out a second bill as quickly as possible.

"If you have received two bills, please discard the original bill and use the corrected bill for your 1999 taxes," Skidmore said Friday.

Lake County property tax bills are expected to arrive in the mail Monday. The first installment is due June 1 and the second is due Sept. 1.

The West Skokie Drainage District maintains the central branch of the Chicago River and runoff surrounding the river from Route 137 to Deerfield Road. ) 2000, YellowBrix, Inc. http://realcities.yellowbrix.com/pages/realcities/Story.nsp?story_id=10295011&site=charlotte&ID=realcities&scategory=Computers%3AY2K
