I would like to know the basic differences in the design of jacks for hydraulic elevator and hydraulic jacks for other industrial applicaitons.

Answers

This is a very broad question.

One could answer "none" or "many" and both could be correct.

In essence, all hydraulic jacks are similar and serve similar purposes. There are MANY detail design variations, according to the purpose.

In general, elevator jacks are much larger, due to large loads handled and also to keep the pressure and corresponding operating noise within acceptable limits.

They typically have only a single bearing, as the guide rails guide the car, the jack only lifts and lowers the load.
