Crew Escapes Entebbe Crash

Seven crewmen are reported to have been rescued unhurt after a cargo plane overshot the runway at Entebbe Airport in Uganda and crashed into Lake Victoria. The accident happened Sunday morning.

Emergency services were quickly on the scene and the crew were brought out of the aircraft in a record seven minutes. They were taken to Entebbe hospital for observation but are believed to have sustained no serious injuries.

A five-man investigative team has been appointed to find out the cause of the crash and government sources said the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration was expected to help in investigations after they were notified.

The plane, which is registered in the United States and belongs to Dairo Air Services, overran the runway and crashed through the perimeter fence before plunging into Lake Victoria. It was later swept by waves back to the lake shore.

This one is a really strange accident, one that would normally be blamed on pilor error or incomepentcy.

But, this particular one smells a little fishier than that.

Good pun, Wellesley. :) This is the second plane that has ended-up in the water there in a similar fashion this year. Would you believe the first one was actually carrying a load of fish?
