war

Why has the Russian fleet been redeployed to the Med. Sea? Why has Milosovic, the Chinese communists and Russians had secret meetings? Why has Communist China continued to mass forces facing Taiwan and why have they continued to make threats? Why are the Chinese communists increasing their combat readiness? Why are the chinese and russians getting cozy with the Indians and Iraelies? Why is there going to be a "practice nuclear alert" in DC during May/June? My guess: nuclear war soon to commence. Your thoughts, please!

Well, I've got to admit that there are a lot of potential down sides to nuclear war. If nothing else, the EMP pulses it would generate would be hard on my computer system.

But, look on the bright side. There are a lot of doomer with a lot of spam, beans and rice who would be in a very good position to ride out such a storm.

And . . . always remember . . . when you start with the "why has?" stuff, that means you're getting seriously paranoid. Who has any idea why people on the other side of the planet (or even the other side of the street) are doing what they do? Lighten up.

Sue, you said,

"My guess: nuclear war soon to commence. Your thoughts, please! "

WHY would Russia and China team up at all? They don't exactly share the same world view, and why would they want to start a nukefest when the retaliation would be horrible on themselves?

Nope, I'd think it more practical to worry about the price of gas, or what the Klintons are going to try and do to the country next.

Frank

P.S. I wouldn't overlook China doing something to Taiwan though, but then that's not yet my problem.

Sue:

Care to provide a link to any of your "Why"'s? It's hard to give a reply to a bunch of rambling, non-specific world happenings. For example, I know of no evidence that the Russian fleet, in toto, has been deployed to the Mediterranean.

To achieve what aim? How?

War is the continuation of diplomacy by other means, says Clausewitz. At the moment, what diplomatic goals by these countries has become evident, but has failed by conventional diplomatic means?

Nuclear war is a desperate throw of the dice. What unmet need or desire is driving that desperation such that a counntry would gamble that a nuclear war could conceivably solve the problem, rather than make it worse? If it could only make it worse, why go there?

I'm sorry, sue, but your worries are not based on very strong reasoning. Such a war is not impossible, but the trend will be much more strongly apparent in the days leading up to it than the evidence you present here. This is just a merest hint of smoke. Not much evidence of a fire there, much less a conflagration.

Don't worry Sue, the United States will never be nuked, they don't want to destroy the infrastructure. Most Americans will eventually perish from their own stupidity.

-- Hawk (flyin@high.again), May 02, 2000.

Sue: my 2-cents worth say the nuclear movement, the naval positioning of floating hardware etc. are merely a front for what's really going on in the backrooms: preparation for a solid cyber-attack which will not so much destroy but seriously disable those affected by it. In Canada, Ontario's Government started last week preparing for such potential cyber-attacks, and whoelse-whoknows.
