You've done a good job, OTFR

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TB2K spinoff uncensored : One Thread

I just read a thread where you said you learned something by your experience with Capnfun. Maybe you've said it somewhere else regarding other deletions, I don't know because I don't have time to read every thread. Regardless, the fact remains that you've learned something from this experience, and I commend you for that.

Other than the deletions a couple of days ago, IMHO, you've done a damn good job. I for one, am AMAZED that you're willing to do it at all, because as far as I know, you're not receiving any renumeration for this. (Even if you are getting paid something, it CAN'T be worth the hassle!)

I'm also AMAZED that you don't receive far more gratitude from the people who post here. I guess the internet is a little like real life and some people givers and some people are takers, and you dear lady, are quite obviously a giver.

I'm going to close up shop over at "Uncensored Spinoff" because I don't want to put up with what you have to. I figure it will take Phil a couple of days to delete it, so least I can warn the posters over there a couple of days ahead of time. Please don't be harsh on those posters if they come back here. Keep in mind that they only wanted to spend their time in a place where they could discuss something other than Y2K comfortably and my forum gave them that opportunity.

Good luck and Good times,

Ciao!

S,

That was very nice of you to thank OTFR, he/she has done a GREAT job IMHO, and many of us here have said so.

I know from your post it is a hassle. I had mentioned to you that you would see the difficulty in maintaining your new site. I did make that comment but 'poked', I do apologize to you for the poke.

I for one ask you to hang around here, we All have learned something.

I know I have. Stay, OK ?

This was very gracious.

I suspect that the most vocal critics of the moderator are truly speaking from the perspective of a receipient only. It never enters their head that the moderator's job could be tough, tedious, time-consuming and thankless. Because it is mostly invisible it is easy to overlook.

The Tao-Teh-Ching constantly repeats that the best leader is the leader who is unnoticed. The fact that OTFR goes unnoticed 99% of the time is a great tribute, especially when we can see how even a minor misstep sends up an immediate howl.

S,

I have to agree with Brian that was Very gracious.OTFR has done an excellent job and deserves many kudos, especially in lieu of the events of the past few days.

Maintaining the forum is probably a more time consuming pain in the butt than many here would ever care to take on themselves and the words of encouragement are far slower coming than the quick arrows of judgement.

My hat is off to ya OTFR!!!

This reminds me of raising kids through their teenage years. THEY don't appreciate you, and the folks who have NO kids are on your back as well.

OTFR has done a fine job. THANKS SO MUCH! S@the New Forum, I would have posted at yours too. Thanks for starting it, even if you are quitting it. You guys are great.

I only had one child, hence, only one teenager. GAWWWDDDD, that was enough. I now have nine cats and four dogs, and herding cats will make you old before your time--it is a lesson in futility--and corralling dogs is only a little bit easier.
