Minolta Maxxum 9, 600mm f/4 lens, 1/40 sec. @ f/4. Provia 100F at ISO 200, pushed one stop. Gitzo 1548 tripod with Arca-Swiss B1 ballhead. Scanned with Polaroid SprintScan 4000.

Answers

Nice DOF wide open -- the bird, the grass in the foreground, and the log all appear to be in acceptable focus, with the possible exception of the tip of the tail (no big deal, tho). Good composition as well. Looks like RDP-III pushes as well as I've heard tell.

This was taken on a photo tour with Arthur Morris. He splits his film between Velvia @100 ISO and Provia 100F @200 ISO, both pushed one stop. Sometimes he shoots Provia 100F @320 ISO for a two-stop push.

Nice framing and frame contents; one of my favorite Florida birds. Dark upper right corner simplifies the backdrop, gives the eye some rest and makes the picture work.
