WIRE:04/29/2000 07:23:00 ET Turkish Airliner Has Emergency Landing in Istanbul

ISTANBUL (Reuters) - An Istanbul Airlines flight bound for Germany made a successful emergency landing at Istanbul airport on Saturday after reporting engine trouble, Anatolian news agency said. The agency said the Boeing 727-200 airliner with 164 passengers had taken off from the port city of Izmir in western Turkey for Duesseldorf.

It changed course for Istanbul when one of its three engines failed and landed there 40 minutes after take-off. Anatolian did not report any injuries to passengers or crew, and said the passengers were sent on to Germany by another flight.

Istanbul Airlines is a privately owned airline.
