i am trying to do an interpretation of poe's poem "a dream within a dream" but am having some difficulties.. i would like other people's opinions on what they think it means and the metaphore behind holding the grains of sand. thank you

the grains of sand are his loved ones and the dream within a dream is when the pain gets so great it feels as you float out of your body and seem to watch from a distance as if yet not alive anymore to do anything about it,withen another dream again , the grains representing his loved ones falling from his grasp
