ER - "Such Sweet Sorrow" May 11, 2000

[ Julianna's final episode ]

A wound-up Dr. Weaver (Laura Innes) goes on the warpath when she encounters sloppiness, incorrect diagnoses and improper procedures among the ER staff, and Nurse Hathaway (Julianna Margulies), Dr. Malucci (Erik Palladino) and Abby (Maura Tierney) all feel the heat of her wrath. A disobeying Hathaway earns Weaver's enmity when she revives a "do not resuscitate" cancer victim (guest star Rachel Singer) so that the patient can spend one last conscious moment with her young family, and Hathaway ponders her response to Dr. Kovac's (Goran Visnjic) romantic interest and makes a life- changing decision. When he's not goofing off, Malucci also gets an earful from Dr. Corday (Alex Kingston), who offers a sobering assessment of his performance. Dr. Greene (Anthony Edwards) re- thinks his father's burial request and determines to spend more time with his daughter Rachel (guest star Yvonne Zima).

I know this could mean a lot of things, but my first thought was Mark's dad will probably die in the May 5 episode.

Wow, it seems like Kerry is taking over where Romano left off in Viable Options. Everyone is screwing up, EVERYONE. It's getting to be too much.

As for Carol, I really like Luka, I think he's wonderful, compassionate, and an okay addition, but I wish that it wasn't him Carol was mulling over just before her departure. She should be concerned about leaving her family, the friends she has worked with for over 10 years (Mark, Elizabeth...have these two even TALKED since she had Tess and Kate?, Carter, the other nurses), the house she worked she hard on, and the job that has been so important to her. Instead, she is pondering a romantic interest before she leaves this place she's known forever. I don't know, as usual, it just isn't the same ER quality.

Forgot to mention I missed Carter in these spoilers. Although I'm sure he will be around for Carol's farewell. Maybe they just ran out of ways to say 'Carter's having reprocussions from the attack and he's not acting himself'. But I still would like to know what's going on with him.

I hope the show includes Carter!! Why is he not mentioned? Are TPTB keeping something from us?
