notarized enrtry forms

I can understand having pre-entry form notarized, but why do you need to have an entry form notarized when you are signing up that day? $$$ I feel as I am being "ripped off"

my best guess as to why they want an entry-form notarized, even if you register at the track the day of the race, is so that in case your son (i'm assuming) gets injured, you can't say that he entered the race without your consent. by having the form notarized, there is binding proof that you, or another parent/ guardian, gave permission for your child to race, with the understanding that motocross is dangerous and he might become injured- and therefore you would be the one solely responsibile, not the NESC or the track. as for charging you $$$ to have the form notarized at the track, well, thats a different story...
