Exposure Compensation

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

HI I have a EOS 50 and have just started to play with exposure compensation. Why do the three blocks that mark the setting flash sometimes? When this occurs I have to change the mode from Tv to something else then back again. What am I doing wrong.

Thanks Alex.............

What three block that mark what settings? Are you talking about the three AF sensor areas in the viewfinder?

Sometimes the EOS 50/Elan II will lock up (sometimes with flashing AF sensors) because the battery is either too low or the contacts for it are not working correctly. The cure is to replace the battery, even though the indicator says it's still good, or put a small piece of folded up paper between the battery and the battery door. This forces the battery into the contacts more firmly. Some battery brands are shorter than others and this seems to cause trouble.

Alex, by now you might have figured out the answer to your question. If you have not, I think that by your explanation of "three flashing blocks", you are confusing the bracketing of exposures with the exposure compensation. I could be totally wrong, and if I am I am sorry, but the only time I can think of the exposure compensation markings flashing is when only one or two of a bracketed exposure have been taken. By switching the camera setting, as you mentioned, this would turn off the bracketed exposure as well, thus stopping the flashing marks. Just a thought, hope I have helped out. Rob
