Software to split MPEG-1 file in half??

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I thought this would be a simple thing to find but I did some searching and came up with nothing. All I want to to is split an mpeg file into 2 smaller ones. What software can I use to do this?

'VCD Cutter' is very cool. Lets you pick the number of parts and splits the file into files of equal sizes. also has some other nice features. check it out.

I would use iFilmEdit. It is very reliable. I've found VCDCutter to be pretty flaky at times. I would avoid it, unless your using it as a test bed. It seems if your VCD runs under VCD Cutter it will run on anything.

That's just my two cents.

I don't know what your reason for splitting the file is. But if you want to split the file so you can store on a diskette then use "FileSplit". It also creates a batch job to join them together. You can also use Camel's mpeg joiner to join the files. I hope this answers your question. Good Luck..........

iFilmEdit splits MPEGs by time, and therefore is not frame acurate. If you need to split the MPEG at a certain frame, use Womble Media MPEG2VCR.

Ordix Mpack is the choice! http://www.ordix.com/mpack

webattack.com -> Freeware -> video tools

there are several mpeg splitters would think some of them are able to split MPEG-1

I personally use JAS (Just Another Splitter) http://www.geocities.com/prinze30_au/

good luck Kaneda
