Airliner makes emergency landing at Logan By Associated Press, 4/21/2000 12:14 BOSTON (AP) An American Eagle flight en route from Boston to Norfolk, Va., made an emergency landing at Logan International Airport on Friday after passengers complained about fumes in the cabin.

The plane, carrying 31 passengers and three crew members, returned to Logan around 9:30 a.m., about 20 minutes into the flight, after passengers said they felt ill. Their symptoms included eye irritation, headaches and nausea.

Passengers on Flight 4969 were brought to the terminal in buses, where they were monitored, airport spokesman Phil Orlandella said. There were no reports of serious illness or injury.

''Some patients were placed on oxygen, but none of them wish to be transported to the hospital at this time,'' said Richard Serino, of the Boston Fire Department.

About half the passengers complained of feeling ill, Serino said.

Initial information indicates a de-icing fluid may have leaked into the Embraer 135's air-intake system, Orlandella said.
