I haven't uploaded an inp in over a year now. I tried the other day, and it would not let me do it cause it couldn't find the location where the inp is stored in my computer. The destination has not changed in 2 years. I did notice that ever inp, snap, and some other files I have in my computer have the extention at the end and it never had that before. So if I record a game of Galaga and name it just plain Galaga, in my inp folder the inp is there like this

galaga.inp ???

before it never had the ext. how the hell do I change it back so it doesn't show this? This has to be the problem why I can't upload any inps. Any help is appreciated.

I'm a bit lost... but if I'm reading you right, I believe MARP extracts the zip archive(which it must be in to upload), and if there are no files with an INP extention, it will reject the file.

I don't know if that answers your question - please let me know of the exact error message the website gives you if it gives you one. You might also want to try to upload using the alternate form. Just a couple suggestions to start.

I've been uploading inps to marp since 2/98. I know how to do it and what I was asking was how come all of a sudden I noticed files I have on my computer related to mame and not related to mame (txt files using word, notepad, ect) having the ext attached when it never did before? If I created an inp for any game and took a snap shot, when I went into the folder to view it, the ext would be attached to it and if I try and rename it and delete it, I get an error message saying, "If you change a filename ext. the file may become unusable". All my inps are zipped up and I tell it exactly where it is but still get the error. I will do it again now, and post the exact message I'm getting on the upload page.

Whooo! I figured it out somehow.. I think I may of left a section blank (ver of mame used) and it kicked back to me an error message. I did nothing with the original inp and it's in the same place it was when I tried a few days ago. Cool! Thanx to who responded to my original message.

Steve, I may be missing something here, but what you describe sounds much like your Windows Explorer properties on your system have been changed to show file extensions. I'm presuming your OS is Win95/98/2000 or NT. By default you don't see extensions of known file types (even though they are there) but this might have been changed. This would explain all of the unusual extensions you are now seeing where you never used to. You can change the option back to what you are used to by opening Windows Explorer and looking under the options on the 'View tab' in 'View | Folder Options'. Look for something like 'Hide file extensions for known file types' and tick it. Good to see you 'back in action' on MARP.
