QUESTION : How do people lose their money = GREED Does the stock market ring any bells here or are we just sheep

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TB2K spinoff uncensored : One Thread

When you have a few moments to clear yourself.

Think about GREED and how it is affecting people in the stock market and why so many people are involved.

THEN COME TO YOUR OWN CONCLUSIONS OF WHY PEOPLE GET BURNED.

Rhetorical question: Two of the Seven Deadlies---Greed and Envy. Which is worse?

When I hear the word GREED, I think of the movie with Michael Douglas, Wall Street. What's wrong with greed and really what's the connection with the Stock Market. Some people are smart and don't get burned. Some people are stupid and get burned. How are "sheep" involved?

How people attain their goals is just as individual. You can make money in other avenues than the stock market. Do you put your money in the bank? That's an investment. Are you then considered greedy? Why not? Everyone is greedy. Everyone wants a piece of the pie. I don't seem to recall ever talking to someone who said, "yeah, I don't want to get ahead. I enjoy living in proverty."... or "I'll sweat and slave over this company and give away my earnings, because I'm not in it for the money." Give me a break!

When you hear of the "GREED" everyday in the stock market and is the main topic of the town, this is a over promoted investment area that is ripe for a large correction. PLAY AT YOUR OWN RISK AND GOOD LUCK. At least in VEGAS you can enjoy yourself and pick up the freebees.

Wrong movie , actor and sin . It's DEVIL'S ADVOCATE with AL PACINO . Last line in movie say's it all " VANITY My Favorite " . Everyone's looking to be a Big Shot and it takes Big Bucks .

Birddog,

I got the right movie and actor, go rent the movie to see the scene towards the end. Michael's character starts out the speech by saying "Greed is good." People are motivated by greed in getting into the stock market or any other kind of investment, including starting a business. People don't look for losing ventures. I'm looking to get ahead, don't care about being a "Big Shot". Vanity is worrying about what the other guy thinks of you. I could care less about what someone thinks of me.

Greedy people, the stock market is in the news only because the media has nothing else to discuss. Market swings are normal. No one knows what will happen in the short term but in the long term it will go up. You can bet on it. BTW, your version of fun is not mine. I've been to Vegas a number of times and only played one quarter in a one arm bandit. Lost it of course but that was the extent of my gambling. Gambling is not my idea of fun.
