Title: US Airways Plane Makes Delicate Landing

FINDLAY TWP.

A US Airways Express flight was forced to make a delicate landing Monday at Pittsburgh International Airport after its front landing gear became stuck.

Federal Aviation Administration officials said Chautauqua Airlines Flight 4210 from Fort Wayne, Ind., to Pittsburgh landed on runway 10-Left around 11:45 a.m. without injury to any of its 14 passengers or three crew members.

US Airways spokesman Rick Weintraub said the crew landed the aircraft flawlessly according to emergency procedures.

"They tried to keep it balanced as long as possible and then let the front end down as slowly as possible," he said. After the aircraft landed, the passengers were taken to Pittsburgh International's terminal by bus.

Weintraub and an FAA spokeswoman said the Saab 340 aircraft is being examined to determined why its nose gear failed to descend.

According to FAA records, the aircraft has had no prior emergency landings or other incidents.
