Best Hardware For Making VCD's?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread |
Right now I have an ATI All In Wonder 32 MB Card and I am wanting to know if it is a good choice or is there something else better? I am looking to capture VHS to VCD and that is the main reason for getting into this. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

There is a new stand-alone product called MPEG-2@Disk which will do this ...You can find it at

Hope this helps.

AIW128 is a good, cheap choice. I think. It has many features, it can even capture MPEG-2, albeit ATI's support has problems. (I want my MMC 6.2!) I was told that the quality is comparable to similar priced (cheap) MPEG-1 encoders.BTW, I believe G400 w/ capturing capability doesn't allow you to capture MPEG-1...
As for MPEG2@Disk, it is an EXPENSIVE hardware ($1400?). Also, since it is a stand alone product, if you want to edit your VCD files, you'll have to record it to a CD first. It's nice you can record to a DVD-RAM, but unless you're a millionaire, it's hard to afford...
