Continental jet makes emergency landing at Burlington airport By Associated Press, 4/14/2000 14:52

BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) A malfunctioning cooling fan on a Continental Express jet forced the Cleveland-bound airplane to make an emergency landing at Vermont's Burlington International Airport Friday morning.

The Embraer-145 jet with 23 passengers and 3 crew members had just taken off when the air conditioning fan apparently broke down, said Burlington Airport Operations Manager J. J. Hamilton.

Hamilton said that after seeing vapors which resembled smoke, the pilot turned the plane around and made an emergency landing.

There were no injuries.

A Continental spokeswoman said the jet was repaired, and passengers continued on to Cleveland later in the morning.
