Comments on the Much Much Better Method by The Man

I finally racked up enough money to try one of the many methods out there. I opted to start with The Man's method called "The Much Much Better Method". I tried this with a 1st gen Garuda (1st Gen Durahan/2nd Gen Phoenix). His opening stats were: LIF 120; POW 156; INT 152; SKI 132; SPD 98; DEF 186. He opened up with 6 moves, and thankfully liked Tablets! After his 1st 5 mos. (Early life) his stats were: LIF 120; POW 161; INT 171; SKI 166; SPD 121; DEF 186. In hindsight, I would have trained him ONLY in SKI during this time. Then, I thought Stage 1 would never end! He hit Stage 2 at 3 yrs. 1 mo. old. Stats end Stage 1: LIF: 168; POW 306; INT 317; SKI 303; SPD 121; DEF 323. He hit the end of Stage 2 at 4 yrs. 11 mos. Stats: LIF 335; POW 497; INT 569; SKI 381; SPD 270; DEF 480. At age 6 yrs. I gave him Gold Peach. By the end of Stage 3 at age 7 yrs 3 mos., his stats were: LIF 634; POW 766; INT 993; SKI 491; SPD 555; DEF 853. Here is where I think I really screwed up. I feel like I put him in the freezer too sonn and missed on at least 6 mos of training benefits. At what I determined to be the end of his Stage 4 age 5 yrs. 5 mos., He had stats of: LIF 634, POW 766; INT 993; SKI 537; SPD 555; DEF 853. Then, I froze him in prep for battle only. I did no battles and 4 errantries during training. As far as money, I had 207810g before I started. After his training and the beginning of freeze time, I had 107100g. I pulled my mock out of the freezer during the weeks off of battle. He won't die no matter what I do to him!! When it was time for battle, I decided he was strong enough to skip E class and go to D class. Everybody gave up. Skipped C and went straight B. Blew them out. Skipped A and went to S Class. Blew them away. Blew out the M4, Legend Cup, Elder Cup (gave him Silver Peach after that), and S Class Invitational and IMA/FIMBA battle. He finished battles at age 8 yrs 0 mos. old. This is why I stated earlier that I think I pulled him out of Stage 4 and into freezer to soon. After the S Class IMA/FIMBA meet, I got the retirement message. His stats at that time were: LIF 702; POW 833; INT 999; SKI 565; SPD 615; DEF 928. I decided to train him some more to work on stats. I went back to the Stage 2 method of training, saving each week until he died. He finally did at age 8 yrs. 6 mos. I reset and threw him in the freezer to ude in combining with another monster at a later time. His Final Stats: LIF 709; POW 879; INT 999; SKI 573; SPD 615; DEF 999. I didn't get the 3 stats maxed out like I wanted, but I sure did get a VERY WELL rounded 1st gen monster (in my opinion). It was really fun raising him, and trying this method. I am planning on using RNA's method, and Dark Phoenix method at another time, but if I had followed The Man's method a little better, I may have had 3 stats maxed. It is an easy to follow method, I just deviated a bit, and it cost me the 3 stats

Oh yes, I forgot to mention: When I combined the Durahan and Phoenix to get the Garuda, I used a Mock Disc Chips (+10 week increase in lifespan).

Congrats Tony. A very nice monster you raised there. Even though you didn't max out the stats you did come out with a well rounded monster. I think you have a very good monster.

Sigh.... All these reports of incredibly powerful monsters, and the best I can do on my own are 4 frozen A-class monsters, none of whom lived(with testing)past 4 years and a few odd months, with an all- time max of 35,600 credits! :( Doesn't help one's self-esteem any....

Despite reading some of the extensive methods shown and linked to here, it's proven to be too much for me to comprehend at all.... :(

Tony, or anyone who responds to this; could one of you email me, so I can describe what monsters I do have to you? Maybe one of you can give me a very simplified and/or inexpensive method to help me get some S-class monsters and really get into the big cups! :)

Yeah, I'm actually 27, so don't think I'm a newbie to MR2! :) Thanks in advance!

-Michael

michael, the beauty of the man's and d.p.'s method is their intracacies. the method you may be looking for is b campbell's newby method, or wildcard's "how do you ppl do it" method.

Here's a few simple tips that can helps your monsters out:

1. Go easy on baby monsters. Don't do hard drill, errantries, or battling until they change size.

2. Hold on to items like Gemini Pots, Fire Stones, Artemis Statues, etc. Having these items sitting in your inventory can make a big difference, believe me.

3. Unless you really need the money, do not just enter any old battle. Battles decrease some lifespan, regardless of whether your monster gets hit or not.

4. Go on the Parepare expedition with Kavaro and look for the Gold Peach in the Tusk Tower (the tall, thin, blue tower in the center of the area). The best time to use the Gold Peach is just after your monster's peak. It makes a BIG difference.

5. If you can afford them and your monsters doesn't dislike them, feed 'em tablets. If your money's tight, just give the most expensive food that it likes and that you think that you can afford.

6. When combining, shoot for getting a decent combo. If Dadge says that the combo is unsure, good, or great, go for it. Otherwise, look for another candidiate for combining.

I hope that helps you out.

Well what I do is: When they are in their first stage I mainly train them in skill for the first 3 weeks and rest the last week (no battles and I give them tablets, I never raise a monster that dislikes them).

When they are somewhere in their second stage I do HT(Hard Train), LT (light train), LT, Rest. the LT will be skill and the HT will be something the monster is good at.(I go on errantries in this stage to get certain moves and battle to go up in rank)

When the monster is in its 3rd stage I do HT,LT,LT, Rest like my second stage but I do not go on errantries.(if i have a peach I will use it straight when the prime is declining a little bit)

But thats just me and occassionally I do HT, (nuts oil) HT, (nuts Oil), HT, Rest on my 3rd stage if i really have quite a bit of money.

Well thats just me hehe(Oh yeah, I'm not troubled enough to go to the freezing pocess hehe)

I got a 2nd or 3rd gen phoenix to have the following stats with this training: Lif-300 Something Pow-200 Something Int-999 Ski-999 Spd-999 Def- around 550 and it was around 8 Years of age (with the help of the 2 peaches hehe)
