So there is an ending after all and what a gip greenspun.com : LUSENET : Monster Rancher 2 : One Thread --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just beat all the M4 battles and its nice to see that there is an ending (kinda like what they did with Harvest Moon64) and I've a couple of comments. I'll give all my rants after I beat the Legends Cup. First, the three people that worked on the Pocketstation deserve to be in the credits as much Japanese truck drivers that delivered the original game. Its not in the US, they sholdn't be on there. The PS2 better have it as the DC VMU's pretty cool. I know its trivial, but it wouldh've cool if I got to use it for FFVIII too. The worst thing though, was the bogus ripoff I got when there was no stat gain after I beat the M4. I really needed the 30+ points boost too. Sorry just had to vent

Answers Wolvie, I just made Master a few minutes ago, and I'm with you about the lack of stat gain. Beating it was great, but it would've been nice to get some bonus points out of it! What the heck, it was still great fun. My Mock beat it (the first one), I'm hoping he'll make it to the Legends tournament. He's 5yr 6m, I've never had a monster last that long before. It was nice to see the recognition upon making Master. Good luck with your Legends tourney!

congratulations to you both! it's not so much an ending as a climax, and a very weak one at that. they could do a lot more to recognize and reward maj4 winners.

Well, I played on last night and at 5y 11m made the legends cup. It was cool putting a monster in the hall of fame, but that was about the only kudos you get. I did enjoy beating Pabs monster (I think it was Most, the white Mocchi, but I was too tired to really remember). I figured he'd be really tough... he may well be... but Gonzalez got in a lucky punch with 'twister', and took him out in one hit. Now I'm shooting for the elders cup. I hope Gonzalez can make it. His stat gains are pretty sorry by now, so I'm fighting him about once a month for the real increases, and training in Skill otherwise. How's yours coming along?

yeah, most is pabs; the other guy, ponderosa, is holly's. i'm taking a break from raising champions to research niton tech chains for the man.

Well, I just realized I missed the Elders Cup this year. According to a post by Eagle, the Elders cup is 2nd week of June. I think it was past that when Gonzalez turned 6yr 3m (what an odd age to key an event to... anybody know why?) So I'm hoping he'll last a few more months.

My Mock is dead... I had to freeze him for a few weeks to get him to the Elders cup, and no matter what I did, he died the same night he beat the cup. If I skipped the Elders Tournament, he got a party (it was his 7th birthday), Colt said he looked good for a 7 year old monster, and when he went to sleep that night he keeled over anyway. So I went ahead and kept the save where he won the tourney. That way I have the Elders Cup won, plus my next monster unlocked (Wracky). And boy, is that turning out to be an obnoxious little stinker! Even Colt didn't like him!

Yeah, the Wracky is really creepy and ugly looking and sounding. They remind of Chucky the homocidal doll in those "Child's Play" movies. The best thing to do is combine it to get a Jilt. They have such uneven stats too. Why are their card pics in a package? Oh well I guess I'll try to "collect them all". So far I also have a Metal Glay.

Charles was my first monster to break 5000 in stats.Check the archives on using paradoxine.I think I used 7 of them.Wracky lives a long time normally,so the paradoxine is not so bad.Plus it gets you past those YEARS of 1 pt stat gains.I've given up Wrackies for Lent.

thanks for the advice; unfortunately, he's already 3y 6m old, I think I missed the window for drugging him :^) Anyway, I've been doing heavy drills on speed and intelligence, and letting the Def/Pow drop to 1s. When I get those stats close to maxed, I'll start raising him in the weak ones. Amazingly enough, he routinely wins E/D tourneys without taking a hit. Looks like he may turn out pretty well after all! I've sent him on 2 errantries, and he did well on both. I'm beginning to like the little stinker!
