Title: Leaky Fuel Tank Causes Recall of 112,000 Lawnmowers

6.14 a.m. - April 12, 2000

WASHINGTON (AP) About 112,000 Honda lawnmowers were recalled Tuesday because of the danger of fire from leaky fuel tanks, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

America Honda Motor Co. reported 25 cases of the tanks' seams cracking or splitting, but no fires or injuries. The commission said Honda voluntarily recalled the mowers.

"Harmony II'' and the model numbers HRT216, HRR216 or HRS216 are written on the front of the mowers. They are painted dark grey with red fan covers.

They were sold by Honda power equipment dealers and Home Depot from May 1998 through January 2000.

Honda power equipment dealers, who can be located by calling 1-800-426-7701, will make free inspections and repairs.
