Alberta: Inquiry into dead fish

National Post CALGARY - Alberta Environment is investigating after hundreds of dead fish were found 40 kilometres north of the city. Marcel Couture, a grain farmer, was surveying his 65 hectares of land, which borders the Rosebud River near Crossfield, when he found the dead fish on Saturday. Mr. Couture said the fish were stacked along both sides of the river for about a kilometre. The river has a history of problems with bacteria and lack of oxygen.

You sure got to wonder what is meant by history of problems with bacteria and lack of oxygen.

The news seems to be full of dead fish stories lately. Contaminated waters? By chemical spills? A logical assumption. But, it's still difficult to figure where a y2k factor might fit in.

...and these are the first "dead fish" stories I've heard in this area. You've got to wonder why there weren't dead fish "due to lack of oxygen" before!
