Buy the gray market 540EZ and save. The import and USA models are the same except the "import" comes with the display switched to meters. Not a big deal, and if you want, you can change the display to feet with a little switch in the battery compartment.

The 540EZ import that I bought from B&H came with a photocopy of the English language manual inserted in the box. Not as good as having an original Canon manual, but better, at least for me, than having one in Japanese.

I have owned 430EZ gray market for 9-10 years, it works fine.
