Ohio: Waterline break closes school Tuesday, April 11, 2000

ROCKY RIVER - Bottled water will be available as the 600 students at Kensington Intermediate School return to class today after having yesterday off because of water and sewer problems.

Superintendent Dennis Allen said a waterline broke Friday, about an hour before the end of classes. Storm- and sanitary-sewer damage followed, all blamed on the age of the system.

Water, storm and sanitary sewers lines outside the school were repaired yesterday. But drinking water will not be turned on until about 11 a.m. today, he said. The only water that will be available until then will be for toilets.

School was canceled yesterday as crews worked to fix the lines.

Kensington houses students in grades three through five.
