Upgradation failed while importing replication settings...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : SQL Server Database Administration : One Thread

Eric,

Upgrading SQLServer 6.5 to 7.0 (SP2) in a single computer. This computer has a replication setup with other computer in SQLServer 6.5. Distributor and Publisher are both in the Upgarding Server. Subscriber is in the other computer. I have not disturbed the replication setup but made sure that no transactions are taking place.

During upgradation, upgrade failed. When I looked at the file 'importreplicationsetting.err' the message was like this:

ERROR: MICROSOFT SQL-DMO (ODBC SQLSTATE:42000) returned error:[Microsoft][ODBC SQLServer Driver][SQLServer]. The Server 'Server_name' is already listed as Publisher. The replication upgrade task was not able to completley transfer your exisitng replication configuration settings to 7.0 Server. Following the completion of upgrade, it is recommended that you use the Microsoft Management Console in Sphinx to re-establis.

Upgradation did not go further after this point.

Your help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks, Kothan.

Kothan,

I could find no information on this other than the text of the error message; I would contact Microsoft PSS.

If you can get back to where you started, you could try it again with replication and subscription turned off.

Good Luck,

Eric
