My friend's father use to make wonderful maple syrup from potato water and brown sugar - sadly the receipe passed on with him. Does anyone have it?

Try making maple syrup with no maple or flavoring. That's a Greenspun forum like this one.

You can find the recipe in "Herter's Cock & Bull" cook book, (I think that is the name).
