Venezuela's PDVSA Shuts 130,000 Bbl/Day Unit at Amuay Refinery:Technical Failure Cited

Caracas, April 10 (Bloomberg) -- Petroleos de Venezuela SA, the state oil company, said a distillation unit at its Amuay refinery isn't operating due to a technical failure last week, halting the processing of up to 130,000 barrels a day of oil. PDVSA officials said a mechanical snag forced the shutdown, which could last for at least another week.

The Amuay oil refinery, which is divided into several units, processes about 635,000 barrels of oil a day into gasoline, distillates and other products for export mostly to the U.S. It is part of the 940,000 barrel a day Paraguana refinery in Venezuela's northeast, one of the world's biggest.

Isn't this the refinery that provides finished gasoline for the U.S. East Coast?
