West Side Forest (snoqualmie valley, central Wa cascades)

I've probably taken more forest pictures than anything else, but I still find it difficult. It doesn't feel cluttered when you're in there, but it tends to look cluttered on film. This picture is one of the few I've taken that isn't some atypically simple scene but still seems to work. I think the key is to look for subtle rhythms in pattern and texture, and not try to pretend you're in some simple landscape.

Velvia, Canon 24 mm Ts, not tilted but probably shifted a bit.

Sorry about the bandwidth; these heavily textured pics don't compress well.

Whew, killed the EM beast!

Anyway, the 24mm has helped to create some depth, but the composition may be a bit off. The large tree trunk and dayglow green moss thingy might be a little too centered. Not a bad shot of a tough subject.
